Okinoshima is an island that is considered to be a divine body and where entering the island is prohibited. This island is shrouded in a veil of the unknown and is a sacred place filled with mystery. The key to knowing its history is through the Munakata Taisha Grand Shrine which is central to “The Sacred Island of Okinoshima and Associated Sites in the Munakata Region.”

Originally from Hakata, the ramen of the Ichiran restaurant, “the specialty restaurant of natural tonkotsu (pork bone) ramen,” is very popular! This is the only place in Japan that you can eat it in a food court. There are also treats like rice balls, fried chicken, and soft served ice cream which are perfect for having on the road.

Inside Dazaifu Tenmangu Shine and along the road leading up to it, there are a wide variety of shops ranging from long-established souvenir shops to cafés that are perfect for posting on social media. Because of this, not only can you pray to the god, but you can also enjoy eating and shopping.
